Guidance for Meeting Institutional Accessibility Obligations
In June, 2018, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office issued the Information and Communication Technology and Instructional Material Accessibility Standard. To support the implementation of the standard at local colleges, the Chancellor’s Office has developed the following guidance (see Goals menu, at right). Given that effective implementation of the standard is a continuous process, these goals are designed to help focus the campus on the appropriate questions and conversations relevant to current implementations and overall maturity status.
As the college develops processes and meets implementation expectations, these goals can be used to reframe discussions and move the institution toward a culture of accessibility that creates opportunity for all members of the campus community.
Please note that as an institution matures along the articulated spectrum, it should continue meeting all of the standards articulated in the previous steps.
